Budget options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Daily budget | Maximum spend per calendar day in the account's time zone. Delivery pauses for the rest of the day when reached and resumes at midnight. The minimum depends on the ad type and is shown on the step. |
| Budget spreading | Spreads the daily budget evenly through the day instead of spending as fast as inventory allows. Use it for tests and for offers with a daily conversion cap. |
| Total campaign budget | An optional lifetime total; the campaign stops for good when it is spent. Must be greater than zero when enabled. |
| Daily impressions or clicks limit | A hard volume cap independent of money, useful when the offer caps conversions per day. |
| Percentage of traffic | Takes only a share of the eligible impressions, for a slow test on a wide targeting. |
| Conversion capping | Stops counting, and optionally serving, after a number of conversions per day or in total; needs a postback. |
| Email when budget reached | Sends a notification when the daily or total budget is spent. |
Budgets and the account balance
A campaign also stops when the advertising balance reaches zero, whatever its budget says. The Funds page lists campaigns waiting for funds, and the low-balance alert warns you before that happens. Accounts with an agreed credit line keep serving until the balance reaches minus that amount.
Setting a first budget
- Set a daily budget large enough to buy a few thousand impressions in the targeted GEOs; a budget that buys a hundred impressions produces no usable data.
- Turn on budget spreading for the first days so the spend is not gone by 09:00 and you see traffic from every hour.
- Raise the budget in steps of 30–50% once the cost per conversion holds; a large jump changes which sources you win.
